Discussion Summary

During a roundtable with Representative Susie Lee (D-NV) at the Delano Las Vegas, local travel leaders and members of the community discussed traffic congestion on I-15 and the need for an accurate U.S. census count, noting that Nevada getting its full share of federal infrastructure funds is particularly important for a state so reliant on tourists driving and flying into the area. The group also discussed the city’s transformation to a professional sports hub, with the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the Las Vegas Motor Speedway being able to share the new stadium with the Raiders football team. Participants noted that six out of 10 visitors to Las Vegas attended a live performance or sports event. The group expects that percentage to climb in the years ahead with new venues like Allegiant Stadium. The group also advocated for several federal issues, including the Brand USA Extension Act (HR.3851/S.2203), a delay in the REAL ID Act, and funding for the Transportation Security Administration and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
